The third annual Multicultural Youth Leadership Summit is hosted by the Utah Office of Multicultural Affairs in support of Governor Gary R. Herbert’s ’66 by 2020′ initiative, a state goal that 66% of all working-age Utahns will hold a post-secondary degree or certificate by 2020. The Summit places emphasis on Utah’s ethnic youth in encouraging them to pursue higher education.
Keynote Speaker
We are pleased to announce Nicholas Carlisle as the keynote speaker. Mr. Carlisle, a graduate of Oxford University, is an attorney (focus on human rights), psychotherapist and executive director of No Bully, a San Francisco based non-profit organization. Having experienced firsthand the reality of bullying in high school, he is committed to creating schools where every child feels accepted by their peers.
Mr. Carlisle will lead a breakout session for educators and parents on effective anti-bullying strategies. Research studies show that teachers and staff trained in the No Bully System® succeed in stopping student bullying in at least 80% of cases.
Guest Speaker
Ernesto Mejia of CoolSpeak, a leading youth engagement organization specializing in student outreach, joins us to provide a dynamic and engaging breakout session for students. Mr. Mejia, the proud son of immigrant parents, went from college dropout to dean of student success.
REGISTRATION IS FREE for students, educators, parents, and community members. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
